Adam Golfer (b. 1985, DC) (he/him) is an artist and filmmaker based in NY. Solo exhibitions of his work have been shown at Booklyn Artists Space (Artforum Critics Pick), the 92 Street Y, and the Goethe Institut of Washington, DC. In 2018, Golfer’s image-text installation, “A House Without a Roof,” was featured in the 3-person exhibition “Traversing the Past,” at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Columbia College Chicago. He has participated in group exhibitions at Nurture Art, Hunter College, Kuldiga Arts Center in Latvia, and the Camera Club, among others. Golfer is a recipient of the Snider Prize in Photography, an Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation grant, and a Puffin Foundation grant. In 2015 he was an artist-in-residence at the Kuldiga Arts Photography Residency in Latvia. His monograph, “A House Without a Roof,” was shortlisted for the Aperture Foundation-Paris Photo First Book Award in 2016. His short films have been featured at the Frameline Film Festival, Outfest Fusion Film Festival and Newfest Film Festival, in addition to being selected as Vimeo Staff Picks and via BOMB. He holds an MFA from Hunter College and is a proud member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective.
